At The Manhattan Institute we understand that applying for financial assistance can seem overwhelming and a little confusing; especially if this is the first time you've filled out a financial aid form. We want to make applying for financial aid as easy as possible. That's why our Financial Aid Officer will meet and work with you one-on-one to help you understand financial aid and help you navigate through the application process. Before you even begin classes, our Financial Aid Officer will meet with you to discuss the various aid programs, assist you with your applications, and review the various options available - and of course, we're here to help you once you start school too.
The Manhattan Institute participates in several different types of financial aid programs to enable our Financial Aid Office to offer you the best possible combination of aid awards. We participate in the Federal Student Aid programs, along with other miscellaneous aid programs from various sources. To help you understand what types of aid programs might be available to you, we have prepared a web page with descriptions of the aid available programs (including Federal Student Aid).
Federal Student Aid (federal financial aid) is available to all students who meet the basic eligibility requirements. The term "financial aid" includes grant programs and loan programs. Grant aid is awarded based upon financial need, but student loan programs are available to all eligible students regardless of the student's financial situation.
At The Manhattan Institute our Financial Aid Officer will help you every step of the way. However, there are some things you will need to do to help speed the process along. We'll explain everything to you when you come in to visit the school, or you can refer to our "How To Apply" page for detailed do it yourself instructions. Either way, we're here to help whenever you need us.
Upon completion of the application process, the Financial Aid Officer will prepare a "package" of financial aid for you based upon your eligibility and financial need. This award "package" may include a combination of grants, loans, and other programs. The Financial Aid Officer will meet with you one-on-one to discuss aid programs offered, explain the timing of aid disbursements, describe billing and payment procedures, and advise you about alternative financing sources.
The Manhattan Institute provides information about the federal "cost of attendance" and an electronic net-price calculator.
If your financial aid package includes a federal student loan, there are some things you need to do before your loan will be processed. Your Financial Aid Advisor will discuss these procedures with you and guide you through the steps, but you also have the option of doing these procedures on-line at the Federal Student Aid website. Whether you do these things in the Financial Aid Office or on-line, it is important that you understand these Student Loan Requirements.
Using financial aid (possibly including student loans) is a serious responsibility. It is important that you understand your responsibilities as a recipient of Federal Student Aid, and that you know your rights. The Manhattan Institute has assembled a Rights and Responsibilities webpage to ensure that you understand these important concepts.
The Manhattan Institute provides prospective students with an on-line calculator that provides general estimates of costs and financial aid. These are of course only estimates, and your actual financial aid may vary. For actual cost and financial aid information, it is always best to visit the school and speak with the Financial Aid Office about your specific situation.
